David T. Brown is an accomplished attorney and committed civic leader who is dedicated to serving his valued clients and the community at large. David is chairman of the Chicago-based law firm, Much Shelist, P.C., where he is actively involved in strategic planning and leadership development for the firm. David is an experienced business and transactional attorney who also serves as a valued business advisor to his clients.
David is a regular speaker and writer on a broad range of topics, including business and succession planning, and the business aspects of the legal profession. He is also a member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations and the Chicago Chapter of the World Presidents Organization. David has been designated an Illinois Super Lawyer, an honor given to the top 5% of attorneys in the state. He has also been recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as a top Illinois lawyer in the areas of privately-held business law and commercial real estate (2003-2014).
David is an active board member of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF) and is the immediate past-Chairman of its Board of Directors. David has also held multiple positions within the JUF, including chair of the Overall Planning and Allocations Committee (OPAC), End of the Year chair for the 2004 and 2008 campaigns, chair of the Government Affairs Committee, where he presented the JUF’s position on important policy issues to government officials in Washington, D.C. and Springfield, and president of the Young Leadership Division. David was a recipient of the JUF’s Young Leadership Award. David is a member of the board of trustees of the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA). He chairs JFNA's Israel and Overseas Coordinating Council where he works closely with professional leadership in JFNA's Jerusalem and New York offices and lay leadership throughout the United States on critical issues of interest to North American Jewry relating to JFNA’s Israel and overseas agenda. David is active in AIPAC and is a regular visitor to Israel.
David has run in the Chicago Marathon 12 times on behalf of the American Liver Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and most recently on behalf of JUF. He is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law (J.D., 1986) and the University of Illinois (B.S., 1982). He lives in Chicago with his wife, Suzanne Muchin, and their five children.
