Melanie Roth Gorelick has served as the director of the Community Relations Committee (CRC) of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ since 2006. The CRC is the public affairs, public policy and advocacy department of the Federation.
Among the many responsibilities within her portfolio, Melanie has launched the NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking, implemented a successful Step Up For Israel advocacy and education program, ran a statewide Stop Iran Now Campaign and was the co-convener of the NJ Coalition Responds to the Crisis in Darfur. Melanie has a strong background in advocacy on international human rights issues. She also oversees the government affairs work of Greater MetroWest and represents the Jewish community to county, state and congressional elected officials.
Melanie has received the Essex County Stars Award in 2012 from Essex County Celebrates Jewish Heritage Month, the JCPA Program Excellence Award in 2014 and the Outstanding Human Rights Community Activist Award in 2014 from the Human Rights Institute at Kean University.
Her prior experience includes working as the Communications and Advocacy Manager at the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), an Associate in the Program and Policy Department of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Program Assistant at the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service.
