Julie Vanek is an educator in the Boston Jewish community of longstanding. In August, 2012, Julie joined the staff of Combined Jewish Philanthropies as the director of Jewish Learning Connections, CJP’s strategic initiative to create large-scale innovation in synagogue-affiliated and community schools.
Previously, Julie served as the director of lifelong Jewish learning at Temple Shalom in Newton, MA for 24 years, overseeing the learning of children, families and adults from 1988-2012.
Julie received a joint master's degree in Jewish education and Jewish communal service from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in 1988. Since 2011, Julie has served as a clinical faculty mentor in HUC-JIR’s executive masters program in Jewish education.
