Ezra S. Shanken is the CEO of The Greater Vancouver Jewish Federation where he has the privilege of leading the third largest Canadian Jewish community and Canada’s western hub. He joined the next generation of Federation leadership when he became one of the youngest to assume the job of Federation CEO in the spring of 2014. A third generation Jewish communal professional with a specialty in the engagement of what he coins “Generation Now,” Ezra is the former director of Emerging Leaders and Philanthropists (ELP) at UJA-Federation of New York, the Federation System’s largest next generation engagement program. Through 150 engagement opportunities annually, ELP touched nearly 10,000 young lives a year with nearly 7,000 of them making a gift to their community.
