Hallie Shapiro Devir is the assistant vice president, Israel Experience and Youth Initiatives at Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. She oversees Federation’s scholarship, savings and grant programs for Jewish overnight camp and Israel Experience programs, as well as JUF's initiatives for young families and youth, including volunteering, philanthropy, leadership development and community-wide programs for tweens and teens. Hallie is leading the strategic planning process for community-wide Jewish teen engagement in Chicago.
Hallie began her JUF career in 2000 as an associate director for the Israel Experience department. Her previous experience includes working as a program coordinator for the Children’s Scholarship Fund, and as a preschool teacher. She also served as youth director at Beth Israel Religious School in Portland, Oregon, and taught religious school at synagogues in Boston, Portland and Chicago. Hallie earned a bachelor of arts degree in English Literature from Brandeis University.
